David: Answer: (c) Shellac
Alcohol dissolves shellac. Most woodworkers use denatured alcohol to thin shellac or to dissolve shellac flakes. A few woodworkers prefer to use 190-proof Everclear, a grain alcohol sold in liquor stores in most states.
